Los Angles, CA (PRWEB) November 22, 2009 Tarpsplus.com, a division of Abadak Outdoors based in Los Angeles plans to distribute more than a thousand tarps to the homeless for the 2009 Thanksgiving holiday. The winter is the hardest time for the homeless, the rain and cold is their biggest enemy. Homeless shelters get filled very quickly and the majority of the homeless are left outside to fight the elements. A simple 5x7 foot tarp can actually save a life. Many people get hypothermia due to having stayed out in the cold and the rain without protection. The homeless rate is the highest it's been in over a decade and this winter could prove deadly without simple protection. Our goal is to provide over one thousand tarps for the Los Angeles city area as well as encourage other companies to help. Tarps Plus will be stock piling the tarps starting next month. The tarps will be packaged individually so they can be distributed one person at a time. The planed date for the distribution will be two days before thanksgiving. This will assure protection throughout the cold season. The tarps are a plastic based material so they can be recycled when they are not needed anymore. There were concerns about pollution of blue tarps littering the streets but these tarps can be gathered up with plastic bottles and be given to a recycling plant for money. Tarp distribution day:
