Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) November 19, 2009

Nominations and voting are now open for the 2009 Small Business Book Awards -- Reader's Choice edition, presented by Small Business Trends. Voting runs from Nov. 19 through Nov. 30, 2009 at http://topbizbooks.questionpro.com/. A separate 2009 Editor's Choice Awards edition is also in process.

These second annual book awards recognize 2009's best business books for small business owners and entrepreneurs. Any English-language book relevant to a small business audience is eligible, if it (or a revised edition) was first published in 2009. Winners of both Reader’s Choice and Editor's Choice Awards will be announced December 8, 2009.

Why these awards:
Small business books are usually lumped in with personal finance books, investing books, and other advice topics for purposes of bestseller lists and honors. They are often overshadowed by bigger niche categories.

The Small Business Trends team is well aware of the many issues surrounding small businesses in this economy and want to recognize the authors. "A small business book is likely to be written by a small business owner or an entrepreneur. These often-unsung heroes who contribute so much to the economy and who share so freely of their learning, should be recognized for their contributions to the continuous growth of their peers," added Campbell. The 2009 Small Business Book Award Winners will be announced on December 8, in time to encourage holiday gift giving - helping the small business authors and their avid readers.

History:
These Small Business Book Awards were inaugurated in 2008. They are a natural outgrowth of Small Business Trends’ popular small business book reviews.

Entrepreneurs hunger for knowledge -- and books fit into most small-business education budgets. "We accidentally discovered that there was great interest by the small business community in learning about new books. So we have devoted resources to bringing the small business community in-depth reviews of new business books each weekend," said Ivana Taylor, the site’s Book Editor. "Comments and Twitter references on our small business book reviews sometimes number well over 100, and many receive more than 50 comments and tweets. Small Business Trends is a very active small business community," added Taylor.

Two distinct awards:
The Small Business Book Awards consist of two distinct parts: Reader’s Choice and Editor’s Choice.

The Reader’s Choice Awards are the 10 best small business books as chosen by readers of Small Business Trends. Readers have 10 days in which to vote on their top 5 picks of 47 small business books, or a write-in vote. The winners will be announced on December 8, 2009

The Editor’s Choice Awards are the 10 best small business books as chosen by editors of Small Business Trends. The Editors will be assisted by an Advisory Panel of Small Business Trends Experts, and will choose the winners based on originality; quality of writing; and usefulness for small business people.

The 2009 Small Business Book Awards are sponsored in part by QuestionPro - online research made easy™. QuestionPro is provider of the survey tool for voting on the awards.
