AmericanCell Reports 250% Sales Increase Due to NY City Transit Strike AmericanCell reported today a 250% rise in online cell phone orders. This increase in sales is attributed to the NYC transit strike. (PRWEB) December 24, 2005 -- AmericanCell, a leading online cell phone store, reports today a sudden 250% surge in cell phone sales to customers in the New York metropolitan area through its website http://www.americancell.com . Brice Richards, AmericanCell Wireless VP of Strategy, believes that even though cellular sales are always strong during the weeks leading up to Christmas and Hanukah, the NYC Transit strike has contributed significantly to this dramatic rise in cell phone sales.
"Our daily sales analysis has shown a record 250% increase in cell phones ordered by NY City area residents. AmericanCell speculates that the huge leap in cell phone sales was a direct result of the NYC Transit strike. To check if this was true our customer support agents telephoned dozens of New York area customers who have ordered cell phones in the past 48 hours. The transit strike was found to be a major factor in over 70% of these recent sales.
One AmericanCell customer commented that she wanted to complete all her holiday shopping on-time this year and not wait until the last moment like she did last year. Tracey Edelman of Queens admitted, "I'm not the typical online buyer. I only bought a few times online, but with this strike I feel like totally trapped and why should my husband and I suffer because of it especially with Christmas here and everything.”
"AmericanCell’s analysis indicates that nearly 62% of the phones purchased by NYC residents were popular upscale phones like the new Motorola Razr V3c from Verizon and the new Blackberry 8700c.", stated Brice Richards. “We have been experiencing robust Motorola Razr and Cingular Blackberry phone sales due to holiday shopping; the strike further fueled holiday sales by New Yorkers. Oddly, the MTA transit strike has had a positive effect our sales numbers. AmericanCell sympathizes with our New York city friends and hopes for a speedy end to this strike.”
Q1 2006 AmericanCell phone sales are predicted to continue to increase with the upcoming Windows-based Treo 700w which includes Verizon VCAST on-demand TV. Treo 700 W will also challenge the Motorola Q which, like the Blackberry 8700C and Treo 700w, will also feature a backlit QWERTY keyboard. AmericanCell Wireless believe that because both the Blackberry phone and Motorola Q lack a touch screen they will not over take Treo 700w as the most popular Smartphone in 2006.
