The Scruffy Dog Review Bounds into the Literary Yard

The Scruffy Dog Review, a bimonthly literary magazine, is set to launch in January, 2006.

(PRWEB) January 3, 2006 -- The Scruffy Dog Review, a bimonthly literary magazine, is set to launch in January, 2006.

The premiere issue provides a unique blend of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and reviews and is set to join the ranks of the best literary magazines around today.

Thanks to its eclectic staff, which includes founder and publisher B.K. Birch, short story and speechwriter H.G. Dowdell, romance writer Terri Dunham, Scottish writer, poet and photographer Colin Galbraith, multi-genre writer Devon Ellington, historical author and artist Michelle Miles; southern novelist Angela Miller; fantasy writer E.L. Reedy; YA/Middle Grade novelist Lara Stauffer; and Australian literary fiction writer Mark Vender, the journal offers a wide-ranging and unique array of perspectives on art and the world.

“Their diversity in both geography and reading preferences is the seed success of our first issue,” says Birch. “I'm excited about the enthusiasm from published authors about participating in the magazine.”

Miller points out the sense of family the editors feel, and Ellington agrees that the trust the editors developed over the course of encouraging each other in life and work adds to the exciting dynamic of the publication. “We’ve spent the past couple of years encouraging each other to be the best writers we can be,” she says. “Now we can expand our encouragement to writers who submit their work and present the gift of the best possible writing to readers all over the world. That exchange of energy helps all of us to grow.”

The premiere issue will feature an interview with award-winning Scottish crime novelist Ian Rankin and as well as crime fiction from novelist J.A. Konrath and many other talented writers.

Pamela K. Taylor will amaze you with her bravery as she tells her story of being the first Muslim woman in 1400 years to lead a prayer in a Canadian Mosque in her essay "Actions Speak Louder than Words".

The featured poet is Wanda D. Campbell; Devon Ellington’s column “The Literary Athlete” moves to the magazine from its former home and Colin Galbraith's debut column "Scotland's Treasure" is a real gem.

The issue will be available on January 4, 2006. For more information, visit http://www.thescruffydogreview.com and their blog on writing and reading at: http://thescruffydogreview.blogspot.com.
