New Catechism for Children Contains Traditional Prayers and Devotions

A new catechism has been published that contains prayers and devotions popular before Vatican II. It was written so as to keep these traditions of Catholicism alive for a new generation.

Wayne, MI (PRWEB) January 2, 2006

Writing a book is a daunting task, and the writing of the first traditional Catholic catechism in more than 50 years would appear to be an even greater one. Fr. Francisco Radecki of St. Joseph Parish in Wayne, Michigan, realized that the endeavor was too much for one person to accomplish. He, therefore, pooled the talents of over 70 individuals, both religious and lay, ages 5 – 75, and produced a wonderful little book entitled The Family Catechism.

This 13 illustrators of this book included adults and students from college, high school, and elementary levels. Five priests, four Sisters, an English teacher, two graphic artists, and many parents helped compose the rough draft. Myriads of children read through the material to make sure the book could be understood by all. In fact, children played a major role in the development of this catechism. With its 100 color pictures and interesting text, it can be enjoyed by anyone from age 5 to 85.

Fr. Radecki kept all contributors informed of the book’s progress from the initial rough draft through its publication by St. Joseph Media. It was the first time the children and most of the adults had been involved in the writing and composition of a book. Even the youngest children were excited in realizing that they played an important role in the project. Their ideas and suggestions were very helpful in making it possible for readers to behold the wonders of the Catholic Faith through the eyes of a child.

St. Joseph Media is a publisher of traditional Catholic books. The author, Fr. Francisco Radecki, was born in Toledo, Ohio, is a member of the Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen, and has been pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wayne, Michigan for 12 years.
