AcronymFinder.com Launches Improved Search Features

The world’s largest acronym and abbreviation search engine rolls out new features enabling users to find relevant definitions more quickly.

Estes Park, CO (PRWEB) January 10, 2006 -- Acronym Finder, the world’s largest and most comprehensive human-edited search engine for acronyms and abbreviations (http://www.AcronymFinder.com/), announced new and improved search features on its website.

Mike Molloy, owner and developer of AcronymFinder.com, said, “User feedback told us we needed better ways to sort and filter results from an acronym or abbreviation search. We responded by improving our existing category filter, introduced a new ‘popularity’ ranking, and implemented a ‘search within results’ filter. This enhanced interface definitely improves the usability of the site.”

Results returned from acronym or abbreviation searches are now ranked by importance, as determined by the relative popularity of the meaning. Users can also sort results alphabetically. In addition to the new rank feature, results can now be narrowed to one of several major categories: information technology; military/government; science, medicine & engineering; organizations, schools & universities; business, finance & accounting; and slang, chat & popular culture. The new ‘search within results’ filter allows users to include a word they know is in the acronym definition to easily locate the correct meaning for their acronym or abbreviation search.

Susan Ebert, content editor for AcronymFinder.com said, “These new search options are really important to our users. Sometimes a single acronym search brings back dozens or even hundreds of possible meanings. The new ranking and filtering features significantly improve your ability to zero in on the right meaning.”
