THE ZODIAC LOUNGE Celebrates Bed-Stuy and Beyond in the New Year

The Zodiac Lounge, a weekend "mini-spa" with intuitive consultants and holistic health practitioners at local juice bar, kicks off its New Year in Bed-Stuy with plans to expand to other parts of New York and beyond.

Bedford-Stuyvesant, New York City (PRWEB) January 12, 2006 -- Need to relax? Need a massage? Need nutritional counseling after binging during the holidays? Or do want profound insight on serious personal problem? Then chances are you can find what you need at the Zodiac Lounge. The Zodiac Lounge, currently only at the Food 4 Thought Café (443 Marcus Garvey Boulevard at MacDonough Street) every other Friday, is an alcohol-free “mini spa” event.

There are practitioners on hand—ranging from astrologers to massage therapists to top psychics—to provide 20 minute consultations for attendees. Participants can also sit out the consultations and enjoy an invigorating natural juice while taking in the entrancing sounds of Bed-Stuy’s newest mixologist from Los Angeles, DJ 180 (nee Stephen Barrios).

The purpose for creating the Zodiac Lounge, according to co-creator Samuel F. Reynolds, an astrologer, was to provide the people of Bed-Stuy with a regular way to chill out and “ get ready for their weekend” with a more spiritual and nurturing bent. “When Will [the owner of Food 4 Thought approached me about creating an event like this, I saw the immediate opportunity to help people and lift their spirits after perhaps a hard week,” the recent Bed-Stuy native said.

There’s also another way that the Zodiac Lounge seeks to lift people’s spirits. Once a month, the Zodiac Lounge has a birthday party to celebrate the principal sign of the month. Last Friday, January 6, 2006, the Zodiac Lounge had a birthday celebration for Capricorns. “So it’s funny,” said Food 4 Thought owner Will DeCeus, “When I tell people to come out to my birthday party, they ask me if it’s my birthday. I tell them, ‘No, but it’s my party, though.’ Then I learn that it’s their birthday and they feel glad that there’s another place where they can come celebrate it. So it’s a great way for people to connect, network and feel good about themselves, all in one.”

This year the Zodiac Lounge plans to expand to other parts of New York and beyond. “We’ve been doing well here in Bed-Stuy, but I see the opportunity to reach even more people in the New Year,” said Reynolds. “Currently, we’re looking for venues in Manhattan, and we’re very excited about it.”

The next Zodiac Lounge is January 20, 2006 at Food 4 Thought Café, starting at 7:00 pm and ending around 10:30 pm. The next birthday celebration is for Aquarius on February 17 at the same time.
