Emerging Designer Makes a Statement With Pick-up Line Tees Just in time for Valentine's Day, Maryland-based fashion label 'Ex-Boyfriend' releases a line of screen-printed T-shirts inspired by classic pick-up lines, presenting a unique spin on an old favorite. Baltimore (PRWEB) January 12, 2006 -- With the major winter holidays now behind us, Valentine's Day is the next big gift-giving celebration in line. Baltimore, Maryland-based fashion label 'Ex-Boyfriend,' released a new line of T-shirts featuring humorous graphics accompanied by classic pick-up lines that tie in nicely with the upcoming holiday. The shirts have a unique, kitschy look, that emanates the pop culture current that flows throughout all of Ex-Boyfriend's current offerings.
One of the amusing shirts sports the universal skull-and-crossbones, but with hearts for the the eyes and nose. Along with the graphic, the "Pirate" shirt features the text "I'm a love pirate, and I'm here for your booty!" Others designs include a geek behind a notebook computer, saying to himself, "I'd rather be making out," while another shirt from the collection features an adorable teddy bear under the covers, reminding us all that he "sleeps well with others."
Many of these pick-up lines, on their own, would most likely not fare very well at your local watering hole, but as the subject of a T-shirt, they do make for some attractive, conversation-provoking items that, ironically enough, just might earn the wearer a few phone numbers in time for Valentine's Day.
Ex-Boyfriend prints on shirts manufactured by American Apparel, a company that has been growing in popularity over the past several years, which can be partly attributed to their strict policies on sweatshop-free production, a philosophy that Ex-Boyfriend shares as well.
This theme of conversation-sparking products is part of what Ex-Boyfriend is all about. The company, owned and operated by Meredith Keller and Matt Snow, produces a full line of handcrafted items with unique pop culture appeal.
The company's name is an allusion to the inspiration behind the company itself. Meredith formed the company after reconstructing a T-shirt from one left in her laundry by an ex-boyfriend. This shirt, lovingly referred to by her friends as the "Ex-Boyfriend" shirt, sparked her interest in designing apparel and prompted her to embrace the world of fashion as a career.
Some of their current product offerings, T-shirts aside, include wallets that are constructed entirely of duct tape and accented with graphics taken from early-20th century pinup art and pulp fiction novels. Other products in their current line are bracelets and buttons, available with your choice of provocative pinup girls or colorful robot drawings, as well as a variety of items, including greeting cards and bar accessories, that all carry their trademark pop art theme.
Ex-Boyfriend's products are available through their own online store and through their shop at Etsy.com. Several of their items are also currently for sale at Zoe's Gifts and Garden in Baltimore, Maryland.
