Real Fashion, Real People, Real-ity TV. A Fashion Stylist for Every Day People? LiveStyle Finds Unexpected Successes with this Novel Idea A small fashion styling company based in the suburbs of Chicago offers expert styling services to every day men and women. Closet reviews, wardrobe re-builds, personal style booklets are a part of the selection of services LiveStyle offers. In addition to working with a great client base, LiveStyle owner Laura Siebold just wrapped a reality show for stylists, hosts her own fashion segment for WLS/ABC Chicago and works with the Oprah Winfrey Show and Elle Magazine. LiveStyle is keeping it real by making her own rules. Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 18, 2006 -- Laura Siebold launched LiveStyle nearly two years ago, based on a passionate idea and what looked to be a good business plan on paper. The idea: Teach and empower every day men and women how to dress for their body type, lifestyle and budget. And she refused to let her talent go to her head, throwing in the opportunity to work with a "nice" fashion stylist who is knowledgeable and friendly. What an interesting angle and one that has proven successful for Siebold. Laura has spent the last two years reviewing closets, helping client's understand why an item works for them and why it doesn't. She re-builds your existing wardrobe, creating new combinations with photos to refer to. She'll even write it up for you. She will put together a to-buy list with photos and the places to find the items to ensure you are successful. She will shop with you, she will write a custom Style Booklet for you and she will be honest with you. LiveStyle continues to be a reality check for its client base. And LiveStyle's client base is a nice reminder of why she started LiveStyle in the first place.
In addition to building relationships with her clients, she works hard to build relationships with vendors. Vendors include retailers, designers, salons and other industry professionals who could potentially be a referral for a LiveStyle client. "I want to work with retailers and other partners who are service oriented, friendly and talented. This is to benefit my client's, since they are going to take matters into their own hands eventually. I need to be able to refer them to nothing short of a fabulous partner. We are always on the lookout for those who practice the same philosophy as LiveStyle," says Laura Siebold, owner and stylist.
LiveStyle, based in Streamwood, IL (just outside of Chicago), has built a loyal following from not only Chicagoland, but across the nation and from as far away as Canada and the United Kingdom. "I started with a very simple business model. I created the website, www.livestylist.com, careful to explain what we were about with a separate profile for men and women to submit. This is the first step one would take to work with LiveStyle and this is where I am able to track our potential client base." says Laura. This simple idea quickly grew into a plethora of opportunity for Siebold. She was contacted by ABC/WLS channel 7 news to host two live fashion segments during the 11am news hour in response to a newsletter she sent via fax. This was four months after she launched. Her two segments have turned into a monthly segment with WLS and one that allows her to reach her audience: Real people with real lives who just want to know what works for them. In addition to ABC/WLS, The Oprah Winfrey show has used LiveStyle to wardrobe show guests. And she was featured in Chicago Magazines "Best Of" issue in 2005 as one of four personal shoppers to know. If that wasn't enough, with LiveStyle's expanding client base, Laura recently spent some time in NYC taping a new stylist reality show "Style Me with Rachel Hunter", set to premiere January 23rd on the WE channel. "I received a phone call from the casting agency who wanted to set up an audition. Three auditions, many conversations with my husband and six weeks later, I was living in Manhattan with eleven other castmates and a production crew.", says Laura. She continues, "I can't say very much about the actual show for obvious reasons. You will have to tune in to see how the competition is set and how we interact with one another and Rachel. Personally, I am able to appreciate my family and business more because of this opportunity because I was completely removed from my own reality. It was a tough decision, but a risk worth taking.", she says.
It's been nothing short of a whirlwind for Siebold and her company LiveStyle. And what does the future hold? "I am excited for Style Me to premiere. I am also exploring some additional TV work and fashion writing. I enjoy being in front of the public, both on TV and as a writer. I want to continue to promote LiveStyle and what we stand for. I see a fabulous trend within our society encouraging people to embrace who they are, not who they think they should be. It is each individual's responsibility to make sure they feel great about themselves, taking care of you, inside and out. The ability to dress yourself well has something to do with that.", Laura says.
Siebold spends countless hours offering tips, techniques and advice to those who want to learn. The one piece of advice she has for potential clients is "The information you learn is invaluable. Whether it's hands on experience or written rules, you should use what you have learned over and over. It's truly an investment in yourself."
Laura Siebold has a Bachelor of Science in Apparel Merchandising and business minor in marketing from Indiana University. She is a member of Fashion Group International and GenART. The premiere of Style Me with Rachel Hunter airs on January 23rd at 9pm cst on WE channel.
