The warm weather of the Canary Islands, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco are recommended as destinations for UK travellers to spend theirtravel moneyand escape the cold over Christmas. If travellers are looking for sunnier escapes further afield they can also go and spend foreign currency in the Caribbean or India where the temperatures are also warm over the Christmas break. With so many UK residents heading overseas for Christmas, the Post Office is urging holidaymakers to secure their foreign currency before jetting off. Changing foreign currency at the last minute at the airport can leave holidaymakers with less travel money in their pockets, as they may be charged high commission and less favourable foreign currency exchange rates at the airport. The Post Office advises it is important to plan for the right amount of holiday travel money in advance, so as to avoid using ATM machines abroad. Using ATM machines abroad to withdraw travel money can be extremely expensive; commission fees can cost an average of £6 per transaction for credit or debit card cash withdrawals. ###
