AT&T Supports Diabetes Research By Sponsoring Local Cycling Event, San Antonio American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure

San Antonio ADA receives AT&T's support to fund diabetes cure.

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) January 29, 2006 -- AT&T has joined the fight against diabetes as the Title Sponsor for the 2006 Tour de Cure ®, the American Diabetes Association’s annual cycling event that raises money for research to find a cure for the nation’s sixth leading cause of death by disease. The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes, and Tour de Cure is the nation's largest cycling event intended to raise money for these purposes.

"We are truly honored to be a part of an event with such rich tradition that not only builds awareness and supports a great cause, but also benefits the San Antonio Community," said Brooks McCorcle, AT&T vice president and general manager, Southwest region. "We at AT&T commend the ADA in working to fight this devastating disease through the Tour de Cure."

On May 20-21, 2006 cyclists will gear up to take the scenic route from San Antonio to Austin and ride in this two-day event to raise over $238,000 to support research for a cure for this serious disease that kills 224,000 Americans each year. They will join over 26,000 other cyclists and volunteers at more than 80 sites throughout the United States this year.
