Scottsdale Italian Bistro features Italian Art Songs and Opera on New Year's Eve

Scottsdale vocalist provides light background for “Evening in Italy"

Janet Morel, local Scottsdale artist, will be providing light background music for guests of the Andiamo Italian Bistro on New Year's Eve. Trained as a classical Soprano since the age of 14, Ms. Morel now focuses on Italian opera balanced with classical and Italian art songs. She’ll be singing a combination of crowd pleasers at Andiamo from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. this Thursday, December 31st.

“Janet has been singing on Saturday nights for us for several weeks now and is proving to be a popular addition to our intimate Bistro. For years, customers have been returning for our food, friendliness and ambiance, but now they also come to hear her beautiful voice,” states Najia Moustafi, co-owner of Andiamo. Located at 6987 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale (Hayden and Indian Bend), Andiamo is a family restaurant owned and operated solely by Najia and Joe, her husband, and their two sons, Jason and Michael. “Many of our customers are regulars. Some even request their ‘own’ table,” continued Najia. “They get to know us and we them and they end up sharing their lives with us. They become part of our family, actually.”

David and Kim of Scottsdale, regular customers at Andiamo say, “Najia and Joe always give us an authentic and relaxing ‘dining experience’ that is hard to find anywhere else. We like the consistency that they’re always here to greet and serve us; and that they genuinely care that our time with them is the very best it can possibly be. Often we order off the menu and they always happily oblige. The food’s outstanding and the service is always prompt and personable.”

Ms. Morel is currently studying opera with John Merwin, with the Bell Canto Studios in Scottsdale. Opera has been her passion since 2006. She states, “I’m delighted to be sharing my love of Italian art songs and opera with the guests of Andiamo. The atmosphere is warm and inviting here and I feel right at home.”

Ms. Morel is also a licensed minister who is currently taking a leave of absence from her position as Associate Pastor with the Coolwater Christian Church in Scottsdale. Singing, however, has been her passion since her early youth.

Andiamo will be open from 5:00 p.m. until closing on New Years Eve. The kitchen will close at 10:00 p.m. but the bar will continue to serve until the New Year has been ushered in. In addition to the light background music provided by Ms. Morel, Andiamo will be featuring their normal a-la-carte menu with several specialty selections and a champagne toast to celebrate the New Year.
