Joe Klein: Who Will Pay the UN's $7 Trillion Bill? The United Nations' Development Programme claims it knows how to create a staggering $7 trillion ($7,000,000,000,000) in wealth for the world. What's the catch? It requires countries to turn over control of their economies to the UN, warns Joe Klein, author of the new book "Global Deception." New York, NY (PRWEB) February 2, 2006 -- The United Nations says that it can end poverty, stop global warming, and end the threat of contagious disease while also unlocking $7 trillion of hidden wealth from developing nations in the process. But what do they need to bring about this virtual heaven on earth? According to a recently published report, the answer is just an "admission that the nation-state is an old-fashioned concept that has no role to play in a modern globalised world."
This ambitious new proposal from the UN's Development Programme (UNDP) contends that the world would be $7 trillion richer, happier, and healthier -- but only if countries like the United States turn over control of their sovereignty and economies to the UN, warns author and technology attorney Joe Klein.
The UNDP proposal may sound like a far-fetched scheme to increase the power of the United Nations, but it's a serious proposal that is supported by many influential global figures, cautions Klein, whose new book "Global Deception: The UN's Stealth Assault on America's Freedom" (World Ahead Publishing; hardcover: $25.95; ISBN 0974670146) has been hailed by former Congressman Bob Barr for its fresh look at the globalist movement that has hijacked the United Nations.
Klein points out that besides likely support from U2 star Bono and other celebrities committed to stamping out world poverty, the UNDP measure has already been endorsed by Gordon Brown (Tony Blair's hand-picked successor for Prime Minister) and Nobel Prize winning economists. Klein also noted that the UN is regularly able to turn out celebrities such Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to trumpet its social programs, and he suspects the organization will turn out all of its star power in support of the new initiative.
"This is nothing more than the kind of centralized planning, Socialist approach that characterizes all of the UN programs that I describe in my book," Klein said. "Global taxes imposed on the American taxpayer to the tune of many billion dollars a year are central to the globalists' scheme for a so-called better world."
In "Global Deception," Klein exposes how the globalists in control of the United Nations want to use the institution in a manner that its founders -- Harry Truman and Winston Churchill -- would never have endorsed. A chief goal of the globalists to set up a "revenue stream" of international taxation to ensure that the UN can never have its funding cut, something that Klein points out is conveniently accomplished by this proposal.
"The poorest people in the world can be helped the most by capitalism -- that is to say, a free market coupled with property rights and fair but limited government," said Klein. "Instead of advocating capitalism, UNDP is calling for the United Nations' preferred approach: a massive bureaucracy to oversee an extensive world-wide regulatory and wealth redistribution scheme.
"The globalists running the UN don't care about helping the world's poor," adds Klein, "nearly as much as they do about helping themselves."
