Javits Convention Center. New York, NY (PRWEB) February 2, 2006 -- Mayo Communications has posted new images of one of the world’s first multi-racial dolls -- Younique Gemz™ at its companywebsite at www.MayoCommunications.com. Mayo is the agency of record for the International doll maker, which hopes to have them available for sale and the end of May or in June this year.
Younique Gemz™ Dolls, which are designed by a a renowned Canadian portrait artist and the fashion designs are being created by a New York designer, celebrate the unique qualities of all races and offer new educational opportunities at home and at school.
The new doll characters were created by Younique Gemz™ President Debbie Goodland, based in Toronto, Canada. The company surveyed a group of children and discovered what was missing in today’s doll. Children said a doll that “looks like them and one they could better relate to” was the most frequent answer.
“We have also produced specialized scrapbooks for our dolls, encouraging dialogue between children and their parents, fostering openness and connectivity that will build pride and a strong sense of self,” said Goodland.
The Younique Gemz™ Dolls will be exhibited at the American International Toy Fair®, February 12-15, 2006 (Sunday - Wednesday), at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, 11th Avenue between W. 34th & W. 39th Streets. The 2006 Toy Fair is the largest toy trade show in the Western Hemisphere.
More than 1,500 manufacturers, distributors, importers and sales agents from 30 countries showcase their toy and entertainment products. Everything from classic toys to interactive entertainment and everything in between will fill 325,000 square feet of exhibits.
About Younique Gemz™ Younique Gemz™ dolls celebrate the unique qualities of individuals of multi-racial heritage. Reflective of a growing population of people that share two or more distinct racial backgrounds, these dolls are designed to honor diverse physical characteristics, cultures, and traditions. Each doll will be accompanied by a scrapbook encouraging dialogue between children and their parents and fostering openness and connectivity that will build pride and a strong sense of self.
The Younique Gemz dolls vary in skin tones, with realistically painted eyes in different colors and shapes, and facial characteristics that are distinct to two or more people groups. To allow for the broadest visual interpretation of the dolls as multi-ethnic individuals and to allow children to identify with the dolls on a personal level, we do not label the dolls by ethnicity but with gem names for easy reference. Each doll comes complete with jewelry accessories including earrings, a necklace and a bracelet with a gem that reflects the dolls’ Younique gem name.
Scrapbooks are sold separately
