'Today’s Family' to Feature Project RE-Cell -- A Fundraising Opportunity Project RE-cell teams up with non-profit organizations like schools or churches to raise funds by collecting used cell phones Deerfield Beach, FL (PRWEB) February 9, 2006 -- Platinum Television Group is pleased to announce the selection of Project RE-Cell for its innovative, educational television series, Great Taste. The company will be shown in a segment on “Unique Fundraising Opportunities” that will be aired on regional networks and on either ABC Family or WE Women’s Entertainment.
Project RE-cell teams up with non-profit organizations like schools or churches to raise funds by collecting used cell phones. Their Fundraiser Consultants match those organizations in need of extra funds with Project RE-cell to raise funds through cell phone recycling fundraisers. These consultants work hand-in-hand with fundraiser participants to ensure that their fundraiser is a success.
After the cell phones are donated to their fundraiser participants, Project RE-cell buys these phones from the organization for either recycling or refurbishing. This way the organization raises its funds for their cause, and RE-cell accomplishes its goal in helping to protect the environment.
“It is a wonderful feeling to help advance great causes with our fundraiser participants while at the same time protecting our environment” says Brent Seamons, co-founder of Project RE-cell.
Project RE-cell was founded with the goal of reducing the harmful effects of improper wireless device disposal. Over 100 million cell phones will be retired this year alone. Their vision is to reduce the number of these devices entering landfills by proper disposal and encouraging re-use of these devices in secondary markets. The ultimate goal is to raise public awareness and responsibility for proper wireless waste disposal through recycling drop-box locations and fundraiser programs.
Over one million cell phones are disposed of every year, and instead of having them release toxic substances into the soil and groundwater, or highly toxic dioxins into the environment during incineration, RE-cell encourages donations of used phones to be re-used in secondary markets. Their goal this year is to raise $250,000 for their fundraiser participants and the American Red Cross. Individual donations can be sent directly to the fundraiser participants listed on Project RE-cell’s web site, and are tax deductible.
