First Frisbee Sports Kids Camp Opening at World’s Largest Disc Sports Complex

First ever Frisbee® sports camp for children opens this summer at the largest disc sports complex in the world located in northern Wisconsin. Frisbee® disc sports training, education and fun will be mixed with nature education in tree and bird identification, orienteering and star gazing.

Highbridge, Wisconsin (PRWEB) February 10, 2006 -- The Highbridge Hills Sports Complex (HHSC) offers the first ever Frisbee® sports camp at the world’s largest disc sports facility. Camp DISCover U teaches “disc sports with a natural spin” blending ultimate Frisbee®, disc golf, disc skills challenge, guts and overalls disc events with environmental education in tree identification, bird watching, star gazing and orienteering. Boys and girls from ages 8 thru 17 can spend up to 10 weeks immersed in Frisbee® disc sports and nature education starting this June 11.

Northland College in Ashland, with a well respected environmental program, will provide food, lodging and expert counselors in partnership with Camp DISCover U. Owner, John Jokinen, opened their first disc golf course in May 2004, which quickly expanded to five courses by July 2005 to become the largest disc golf facility in the world. With over 20 children and grandchildren living nearby, Jokinen’s family dream to open this unique sports and nature camp has been on track once the disc golf courses were installed. Regional disc specialists and traveling disc golf professionals will visit for surprise clinics throughout the summer.

HHSC is the Regional Development Center for the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) based in Columbia County, Georgia. HHSC continues to host the PDGA US Mid-Nationals Disc Golf Championships in July with the PDGA Professional World Championships planned for 2007. Along with the existing five courses, ultimate fields and disc skills facility, two more disc golf courses are also under construction.
