The World Future Society, National Capitol Region Chapter is pleased to host a dinner presentation for Mr. Paul Polski, Chief of Staff to the Assistant Administrator and Chief Technology Officer for the Transportation Security Administration and a former Naval aviator and aviation executive. He will be discussing the nation's Next Generation Air Transportation System and a movement with government and the private sector to transform the current condition into one that meets the forecast growth in the stream of air commerce over the next 20 years. Mr. Paul Polski, Chief of Staff to the Assistant Administrator and Chief Technology Officer for the Transportation Security Administration and a former Naval aviator and aviation executive has insights into a number of future paths for air transportation that will be of interest to air transportation executives and the general public.

Post 9/11 it was reported that over 10% of the US economy is based on commercial air transportation making its future a vital part of our national interest and support of our way of life.

Mr. Polski will be discussing the 5 key futurist generated scenarios that were used to build the foundation for our national air transportation sectors joint planning and development.

Among them, what would happen if terror bring air transportation to a standstill and how can this be avoided? How do we build needed airport capacity to meet future air transportation capacity balancing community and environmental concerns given that it takes about 18 years now to add a runway to an airport?What area of international air transportation will grow the most in the next 20 years, east-west (US, Europe, Asia) or north-south within the American continent and why? Will future air transportation consist of super large planes of 500 or more passengers or will it consist of small 3-5 person family air transport from point to point?
