Legends Golf Group Purchases Myrtle Beach's TPC Legends Group will maintain TPC franchise name Myrtle Beach, SC (PRWEB) February 14, 2006 -- Myrtle Beach Golf LLC (www.mbgolf.com) announced today the purchase of Myrtle Beach's TPC by Larry Young, owner of the Sands Resorts and Legends Golf Group of Myrtle Beach. The purchase, which has been in the works for several months, was said to have cost the Legends Group just over $7,000,000.00 and would allow Legends to keep the TPC franchise name by paying annual franchise royalties to the TPC group. The Legends Group is expected to begin marketing TPC with their existing Sands Resorts, Legends Group and Barefoot Resort properties.
The TPC was previously owned by the Tour and the PGA of America. The new owners, which include Larry Young and Chip Smith (both of Myrtle Beach), are expected to run the course much the same way as it has been run in past years with, perhaps, the addition of a new condo facility onsite which will be built to help bring more play onto the very popular course.
The Legends Group currently owns and manages the Sands Resorts, Heathland Golf Course, Moorland Golf Course, Parkland Golf Course, Heritage Golf Course, and Oyster Bay Golf Course all located in the area known as the Grand Strand, which stretches from Calabash, NC to Pawleys Island, SC. This group also works in conjunction with a local Myrtle Beach businessman to place rounds of golf on the popular Barefoot Dye, Love, Norman, and Fazio golf courses in North Myrtle Beach.
Myrtle Beach Golf, LLC's (www.mbgolf.com) offices are located on the grounds of the TPC and have been for the past five years. Asked about the future of the relationship between Myrtle Beach Golf, LLC and TPC, David Hucks, Marketing Director stated, "I really do not see a big change in our business relationship at all." "We have always had a strong relationship with The Legends Golf group as we have placed many rounds of golfers on their properties." "I believe Legends Group will bring a professionalism to the table here that will match everything the TPC brought. This is going to be good for everyone, including golfing tourists."
The new owners will take occupancy on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 7 a.m.
Myrle Beach Golf, LLC manages condominium properties in Myrtle Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, and North Myrtle Beach and sells golf vacations to over 100 area golf courses. For more details about this sale, visit http://www.mbgolf.com.
