Successful Accountant Takes Crown The inaugural Ms Black Georgia USA hosted by HOT 107.9's, Rashan Ali, was exciting and intense. Ernst & Young accountant, Tiffany D. Willis, took home the crown. Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 21, 2006 -- The inaugural Ms Black Georgia USA crown was awarded to Tiffany Willis on Sunday, January 16, 2006, at the Woodruff Arts Center – Rich Theatre. With a full house and HOT 107.9 Morning Show Personality, Rashan Ali serving as host, Willis graciously took her walk and place in history. Themed Pearls of Perfection: Revealing the Queen Within, this competition featured seven talented, dynamic and beautiful women vying for the title. With her finesse, creativity, and oratory prowess Willis won the honor of representing African American women ages 28-45 as Ms Black Georgia USA 2006.
“It feels wonderful! My planning and preparation have really paid off,” Willis states. “This experience is going to serve as a platform for me to reach more youth and make a difference in their lives as well as my own.” Empowering and Inspiring At-risk Youth is the focus of her platform with a strong connection since she was once one herself. Currently, she is an Assurance Manager at Ernst & Young, LLP, Director of Professional Development for the National Association of Black Accountants, and devoted volunteer.
The distinguished panel of judges that made the tough decision and selected Willis as queen included the Honorable Lisa Borders, Atlanta City Council President; Director of Community Partnerships at The Community Foundation, David K. Gibbs; celebrity make-up artist, Nicole Martin; Larry Jenkins, Senior Account Manager at Smooth Jazz 107.5; and Metroya Antoinette, founder of Hazel Eyez Productions.
As the new reigning queen of Georgia, Willis will be campaigning for at risk youth. She is set to make over a dozen appearances at middle and high schools across the state during the month of February. “Her excitement is overwhelming,” states Kaira Whitehead, Associate Director. “Our goal is to use that excitement to empower at risk youth and bring greater awareness to the foster care system.”
Sponsors of this first annual event included AirTran Airways, Celebrate Diversity Through the Arts, Fortune Financial, Infinite Movement Dance, J Renee Photography, and Staples (Stonecrest Mall).
