Burbank, CA (PRWEB) January 21, 2010

Midnight Oil Creative (MOC), recently listed as one of Inc. Magazine’s fasted growing privately held companies, today announced the hire of Sean Krankel as creative director, digital. He will report to MOC co-founder and principal Tom Stillwell. The hire marks the continued expansion of Midnight Oil’s Digital Division, a creative force behind some of entertainment’s premiere online campaigns.

Sean joins MOC from social media agency Rocket XL, where he was responsible for the conceptualization, development, team management and timely execution of all creative services. His primary focus was on the growing intersection between video games, film, social networking and animation. Projects under Sean’s tutelage included the ARG/online prequel to Tim Burton and Shane Acker's animated feature "9" (9Experiment.com), which spanned social media, website and game development. Additional clients included Atari, Ignition Studios, The United Nations, Sony, EA, Konami and THQ.

“Sean’s breadth of experience in the digital arena is a huge asset to MOC,” said Stillwell. “It’s rare to find someone with such an extensive background in social media, gaming and digital all in one package. We’re thrilled to have him aboard.”

Prior to Rocket XL, Sean served as senior producer, game design, for Disney Interactive Studios, where he was responsible for the creative direction of half of the studio's development efforts. His work on console and handheld gaming platforms spanned multiple genres, developing original IP in addition to interactive iterations of tentpole franchises such as High School Musical, Pirates of the Caribbean and Mickey Mouse.

At MOC, Sean will head the digital creative team, providing direction and support for all projects that fall under the digital domain. “Simply put, I just want to work with great teams to make creatively charged digital entertainment,” said Krankel. “With MOC’s extensive background in entertainment marketing, they are perfectly positioned to expand upon their digital offerings and continue to offer their clients well-rounded, fully integrated campaigns.”

Previously Sean also spent seven years at Vivendi Universal Games, producing multiple entries in the Crash Bandicoot franchise and 50 Cent: Bulletproof.

Sean began his career in film and TV production at Walt Disney Feature Animation and NBC/Spelling Entertainment.
