Food poisoning caused 23 million lost working days last year. Responding to this challenge, cleaning specialist Holchem have produced a complete hand hygiene safety system - "In Safe Hands" - to drastically reduce the health risks. Specially formulated antibacterial hand soap, a hand santitising agent, dispensers and a waterproof non-touch towel dispenser are the key elements. The company has produced a detailed briefing pack, training manual and video so trainers can drive the hand hygiene message home to all employees.
The system is applicable to large and small scale catering operations, fresh food retailers and food manufacturers. The training materials emphasize the need for frequent hand cleaning as contact with any part of the body or with unclean surfaces can spread contamination. Anyone who infringes legal hygiene requirements faces severe penalties and even closure.
The core products are Luxol and Luxsan an antibacterial hand soap and hand santiser. Both products combine active ingredients with skin conditioning agents to counter the effects of frequent washing. Independent laboratories have certified high anti-microbial effectiveness and low potential for skin irritation or allergic reaction.
Loose fill soaps are a potential reservoir for bacteria. Holchem have adopted sealed one litre packs for utmost hygienic integrity with delivery via heavy duty dispensers giving controlled dosage. Completing the package, Wave n' dry sealed towel dispensers use a front panel sensor to deliver a clean measured length of towel for each user. The units avoid the need for hand contact that could cause recontamination and eliminate any unnecessary towel litter while reducing towel consumption by up to 30 percent. The towels themselves are produced from 100 percent recycled material.
The "In Safe Hands" management and training programme completes the package. This combines vital information on this critical issue with resources such as the video and posters. More information is given on the Holchem web site - www.holchem.co.uk. Holchem technical consultants are available to advise on particular user requirements.
