Conference Combats Uninformed Beliefs Center for Inquiry-Florida holds an annual conference to inform the public about how to reverse the decline of society, education, politics, and the negative effects of religion and pseudo-science. An increasingly illiterate and uninterested majority of Americans is too easily manipulated by loud fringe groups. To make a profit the "news" media looks to produce titillation rather then present clear useful facts. Politicians are too readily directed by lobbyists. These are all contrary to the welfare of everyday people. Tampa, FL (PRWEB) March 5, 2006 -- Terri Schiavo's ordeal shows the difference between science and superstition. The ongoing fight against religious intrusion into schools and government, and the loss of liberties mandates constant vigilance and activism.
With its annual conference, Center for Inquiry-Florida challenges apathy, uninformed assumptions, fundamentalism, ignorance of science and reality, and reactionary, unresponsive politics in its annual regional conference. Speakers include well known national and local personalities. The conference is being held March 24-26 at the Clarion Hotel, 5303 W Kennedy Blvd, Tampa. "… there is too much at stake to not be involved."
The conference title is, "A New Enlightenment Is Underway: Many Courageous Women and Men Are Leading Us Forward". These and other timely conference topics will give you a "burst of fresh ideas" for better living: African American Humanism, Science vs. Junk Science, Is Islamic Reformation Possible?, Why There Really is no God, Military Sexual Trauma, Organized Humanism in Africa and India, Sex Ed and Misinformation, Florida Education Standards Committee, and To What is Education the Answer? In other words, science dispels myth, superstition and misinformation, especially as promoted in the media.
