Miami, FL (PRWEB) March 6, 2006 -- With three new owners in Miami, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC, Punky Moms has revamped its website, upgraded its online forum portal, and is preparing to expand the offerings in its punk store. With blog space, live chat, auctions, and an e-zine, the new www.PunkyMoms.com site has also redesigned its logo and homepage since it changed hands last month.

Punky Moms is an organization of mostly young, rockin’ moms with traditional parenting values and skills, but alternative perspectives on social issues. The online community serves as a haven for these moms, often given questioning glances in public. “The Punkymoms name stems from the word "Punk" or "Punk Rock" and some may misconstrue this terminology. We are not just Punkers anymore, we are now parents, with the same passion that we always had to make living on this earth a better place, says co-owner Winter Wilsey. “When it comes down to it, we are just open minded moms, who love raising children...it's simple, back to the basics parenting...without judgment. Everyone is welcome including goth, rockabilly, and mod moms, as well as more traditional moms.”

The diversity among the types of mothers who are members of this cyber community will soon appear on the site’s homepage. A display of several different alternative mom logos, all original artwork by artist Rev Fish, husband of co-owner Jennifer Johnpoll, is being developed now. At www.PunkyMoms.com, all of the ‘alternamamas’ feel at home discussing common parenting issues together in the site’s blogs, chats, and e-zine as well as arranging offline get-togethers. A 2005 article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer estimates that there are more than 500 Punky Moms groups nationwide, including several in Seattle, Dallas, Denver, and New York.

Punky Moms has evolved beyond its online community function since its start almost four years ago. Now it is a directory of on- and offline resources for parents with its own punk products in its online store. Products include punk clothing for babies, kids, and adults and punk style stationery, mugs, and magnets. Punky Moms supports the work-at-home businesses of many of its members.

www.PunkyMoms.com is owned and operated by Sarah Fanning, Jennifer Johnpoll and Winter Wilsey. The Punky Moms forum is located as www.PunkyMomsForum.com.
