Nine Freeze to Death in Washington DC, More Predicted

Community leaders in Washington DC look to divert defense budget funds to halt the deaths occurring over the last few years and provide startup funds for Angels Camps Shelter, a sustainable and replicable homeless treatment center that experts say could end homelessness across the US.

(PRWEB) March 14, 2006 -- While many politicians are paralyzed by the sheer enormity of the plight of over 13,000 homeless in Washington DC, Bret Bocook and his team are busy getting the word out about their breakthrough design for an economically and environmentally sustainable solution that could be reproduced in every state across the country.

“Not only would most Americans be appalled if they realized that people are freezing and starving to death on the steps of our national monuments, but if they knew that it would take such a tiny, tiny amount of the budget to end the problem for good—I mean we’re talking rounding errors here. For just $40,000,000, Angels Camp could acquire the land and build this state-of-the-art homeless shelter that will sleep and rehabilitate 500 people per night.”

As a successful real estate developer, Bret has the skills and knowledge to implement his well thought out and ambitious project. But he isn’t stopping with just a Washington DC shelter, Bret is applying his business background to use methods on the campus that have proven successful in the corporate world: “How successful would McDonald’s have been if they built each store individually with no replicable systems or design? We’ve had teams of experts working together to draw up what is easily the most efficient and effective facility of it’s kind and we will effectively franchise these plans out to cities nationwide.”

“We have plans to build the first facility in Washington, DC, with the second facility to be built in Bay Area, California. After these campuses are built and operational, Angels Camp will be rolling out similar campuses across the country in the next 15 years—at least one in every state of the United States. It makes no sense for every state to waste scarce resources trying to figure out a separate and different solution to the corrosive and spiraling problem of homelessness in the United States.”

Now that Angels Camp has the plans and concepts, Bret is working on getting the funds, and has an idea of where it should come from:

“The defense budget is to protect and defend Americans from harm—well these Americans are dying on our streets. If just two cruise missiles from the 'shock and awe' campaign in Iraq were diverted to saving Americans instead of killing Iraqis, we could fund the land purchase and construction on this state-of-the-art facility. How can the United States have a defense budget of over $350,000,000,000, and spend 5,000,000,000 per week in wars overseas, and still have over 13,000 homeless people homeless in the Capital suffering?” He stops for a breath and answers his own question: “A misallocation of resources and our tax dollars that is how. Our society should take care of the weakest and most vulnerable first before we deal with problems in other countries.

Angels Camp certainly is impressive. From the designs, which are explained in great detail on the website (www.AngelsCampOnline), it is apparent that Mr. Bocook has brought all of his resources and skills to the table in the conception and design of this facility. The design is well thought out, and appears more like a master planned mixed-use community than a typical homeless shelter. Mr. Bocook’s sheer excitement is evident as he describes the components of this 15 acre master planned facility. “The Angel Camp campus will primarily address mental illness; alcoholism and drug abuse and teach everything from living skills, personal financial management. Angels Camp will also be running small businesses in the facility to train the homeless and help them earn money, such as a car wash and printing shop. Finally, the facility will also have the most modern types of medical facilities and dental facilities."
