An Ordinary Couple, a Year of Wedding Planning -- What Could Be More Unusual? An ordinary couple -- chosen not for their TV smiles or sound bites but for their willingness to lay it on the line -- document their year of “very real” wedding planning ahead in an exclusive appearance at FavorIdeas, the popular wedding portal. (PRWEB) March 16, 2006 -- Who are Jonathan and Kimberly? Right now, they’re still a bit of a mystery -- but as time goes on, their readers will have the answers.
Jonathan & Kimberly (http://www.favorideas.com/category/real-weddings/jonathan-kimberly/), who recently entered an exclusive blogging arrangement at the popular wedding portal FavorIdeas.com, are an "ordinary" couple who just happened to fall in love and get engaged. Over the next year, they’ll document their wedding planning process -- not that of an airbrushed team with flawless skin, zero exes and an inexhaustible trust fund, but that of a more typical pair, whose lives are complicated by finances, children, a very uncertain wedding budget -- and their own humanity.
J&K followers will find themselves pondering Kimberly’s thought-provoking questions about the nature of love, and find themselves entertained by Jonathan's take on a bridal show -- a rare occasion where a groom actually attended and lived to write about it.
What does the J&K blog bring to the average bride and groom-to-be? “I think few readers will find their lives are messier than ours, to be honest," says Jonathan. “We certainly don't look like a finished product, and I'm not afraid to talk about imperfections.
“At the same time, I think a lot of readers might be in a similar place. We don’t yet know how we’re going to pull off a satisfying wedding with our friends and family, and frankly there are probably a lot of other couples that don't quite know either."
Kimberly added, “I love to read the bridal magazines, but don't really identify with them. And yet, they've put an idea of my head of what a wedding should look like. I have to balance that with financial reality -- we'll have to be creative. Hopefully some of our ideas will prove useful to other couples.
“There's a certain sanitized air to any talk about weddings,” she added. “You can almost forget that they're about people, not productions. All the pastels ... all the reclining, starving models ... all the rough edges that get sanded off. It's almost like you pass through the looking glass, once you start planning.
“What does the real process look like? Surely, the thoughts and feelings involved will range beyond ‘bliss’ and ‘mild anxiety.’ When all’s said and done, how will our exes and children respond? My guess is, it won’t be like the magazines.”
