Dallas' Oldest Residential Neighborhood Hosts Home Tour, Antique Car Show and Picnic on April 9

Dallas' oldest residential neighborhood hosts a historic home tour, picnic, concert and vintage car show on Sunday, April 9.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) March 21, 2006 -- East Dallas' Peak's Suburban Addition Historic District, Dallas' oldest residential neighborhood, will host a historic home tour and picnic celebration on Sunday, April 9, 2006.

Peak's Suburban Addition Historic District is the earliest developed portion of East Dallas. The historic neighborhood showcases a mixture of Prairie, American Foursquare, Victorian and Craftsman style homes, including the beautifully restored home of prominent early 20th century Dallas architect Otto Lang, which will be on tour.

The picnic celebration, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at 4315 Junius Street (two blocks south of Gaston, between Peak and Carroll), will feature a free vintage car show, live music by the Dallas Banjo Band, Restoration Blues oldies rock band, a Dixieland jazz band and an antique calliope; trolley rides; a silent auction; great food and a brief historical perspective of Old East Dallas. The home tour is from 2-5 p.m., and tickets are $10 at the event.

This event will be a celebration of not only the rich history of the neighborhood, but also the beautiful architecture, the diverse and friendly citizens, and the numerous benefits to living in such a vibrant, historically rich, and progressive neighborhood.
