This move will financially and operationally affect hundreds of retailers, businesses, municipalities and manufacturers operating in Ontario. In the past decade, Call2Recycle has recycled more than 800,000 kilograms of batteries in Ontario, serving as the leading authority on battery recycling programs. The Ontario model has the potential to serve as an example for future industry stewardship programs across the continent.

When: Smith is available for telephone interviews at various times between Feb. 16-24 to answer questions about the far-reaching implications of the Waste Diversion Ontario decision to allow an independent organization to manage the province’s battery recycling efforts.
