MAINDATA delivers DVB-T test platform for DVB-T TV sets manufacturing plant.

Bratislava, Slovakia (PRWEB) March 23, 2006 -- MAINDATA has supplied SONY Slovakia DVB-T Signal Generators for DVB-T tuners testing purposes. DVB-T Signal Generator is comprised from a MD MPEG-2 TS Player and COFDM Modulator. MPEG-2 TS Player provides a simple way to replay entire MPEG-2 TS stream bearing multiple video, audio and data services stored in a file. MPEG-2 TS Player feeds TS stream via a DVB ASI interface to COFDM modulator. MD MPEG-2 TS Player provides an easy to use WEB interface. COFDM modulator afterwards modulates TS into RF signal. Multiple RF signals are than mixed together. MD DVB-T Signal Generation platform allows SONY Slovakia to generate 3 UHF channels to test DVB-T tuners built in a new generation LCD TV Sets.

DVB-T is European standard for Terrestrial Digital Television. DVB-T broadcast networks are deployed in several EU states. DVB-T will become the only TV Broadcast technology in EU latest by 2012. Some regions like Berlin has already been transmitting solely in DVB-T with no analogue signal since 2003. Other EU countries are planning analog switch-off in 2-3 years.

Due to the accelerated evolution of TV demand during last months resulting in dramatic reduction of CRT TV demand and strong demand of LCD TV, Sony will accelerate the transformation to Advance TV. Therefore we will gradually replace CRT TV production in Europe by Advance TV.

In FY06 TRV is going to produce more than 1 million LCD TV sets. The mass production start is planned in April 2006.

TRV will continue in the Tuner Business including AI and Hand Mount, also Service and Customer support function.
