Parents' Choice Foundation Announces Spring 2006 Small Screen Awards

Children's media that helps children.

Timonium, Maryland (PRWEB) March 22, 2006 -- Parents' Choice Foundation announces the Spring 2006 Parents' Choice Awards in children’s software, television, magazines, videogames, DVDs and websites.

Established in 1978, Parents’ Choice searches out and recommends products that help kids grow – imaginatively, physically, morally and mentally—fairly priced products that are fun, safe and socially sound. The Parents’ Choice Awards Committees are comprised of parents, educators, librarians, artists, musicians, designers, scientists, and yes, kids themselves. The award recipients were chosen from the hundreds of nominations submitted by producers and publishers from across the US and Canada.

“Across this broad spectrum of categories, our committees commented that the award winning products demonstrate respect - for the audience, for the subject matter and for the medium. Judges place a high value on age appropriate material that helps children learn. Material that helps children and parents – get connected and stay connected,” said Claire Green, president of Parents’ Choice Foundation.

The Parents’ Choice Awards have 6 levels of commendation: Parents’ Choice Gold Award, Silver Honor, Recommended, Approved, Classic and Fun Stuff. The Spring 2006 Small Screen Awards cited only one Classic Award commendation issued to a DVD Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood: Going to School.
