Sight Words are some of the most frequently used words in the English language. They comprise approximately 60 percent of general, non-technical reading material.

Teaching Sight Words is often considered a crucial part of elementary education. An important goal in teaching young students to read is making sure they are fluent with Sight Words (often called the Dolch Word List). Repetition and practice are essential in making the recognition of Sight Words automatic.

In addition to earlier available Sight Words exercises, Quiz-Tree.com now offers twenty new Multiple-Choice exercises. The targeted audience includes K-3 children and adults learning how to read. The exercises are divided into several groups, according to target school grades: Pre-Primer, Primer, First Grade, Second Grade, and Third Grade.

When the exercise starts, the student will hear one of the Sight Words. The student’s task is to click on the written representation of the word. If the student wishes to repeat the word, he or she can do so by clicking on the "speaker" picture. Both visual and auditory feedback is provided to indicate whether the response is correct. After the student provides the correct answer, the exercise moves to the next word. To assist in evaluating student’s performance, the exercise screen shows the number of right and wrong answers as well as the percentage of correct answers.

The new Multiple-Choice exercises complement the earlier available "put them together" drills and allow educators to add more variety to both class work and homework.
