What: On February 24, Waste Diversion Ontario will discuss whether a longstanding and successful industry-sponsored recycling program will be selected to recycle household batteries in Ontario effective July 1, 2010 under the Province’s Waste Diversion Act. This move will financially and operationally affect retailers, businesses, municipalities and manufacturers operating in Ontario. In the past decade, Call2Recycle has recycled more than 800,000 kilograms of batteries in Ontario, serving as the leading authority on battery recycling programs. The Ontario model has the potential to serve as an example for future industry stewardship programs across the continent.
