Ricky Gervais Podcast Spawns Animation Series

Following the success of Ricky Gervais' Podcast, featuring cult comedy icon Karl Pilkington, one animator has animated over a minute of footage to coincide with the series, with more to follow.

Caernarfon, Gwynedd (PRWEB) March 24, 2006 -- Ricky Gervais, along with fellow comedian Stephen Merchant and unemployed radio producer Karl Pilkington have created a huge following with their weekly podcasts. It has had such an impression on one fan of the show that he's taken it upon himself to animate highlights of the show and release them on the internet. The minute long show has already been seen by web surfers on such sites as iFilm, Kizash, Myspace videos, Newgrounds and flashplayer.

The podcast's success comes from Gervais' relentless arguments with his ex producer Karl Pilkington, whom he worked with on their old radio show, Xfm. Following on with the same style of banter, the podcast recently gained recognition from the Guinness Book of World Records as the most downloaded podcast ever.

Although not commissioned by Gervais, the animator in question has plans to make a couple more episodes, 'just for fun.'

"It's a fantastic dialogue and it was begging to be animated," says Jones, 27. "Who knows, maybe Ricky or Karl will get to see them and have a little chuckle."
