New Service Watch It Monitors Web Site Changes For Free

ProProject, Inc. launched a new Internet service called Watch It that monitors web sites for changes. Users of the service enter their email address and the list of Internet addresses (URLs) they want to watch. Then, when any of those pages change, Watch It sends them an email. Watch It was created to keep web surfers better informed about the sites that interest them and to save time. The service is free of charge.

Most web pages do not change very often and most webmasters do not provide a way for readers to be notified when a page does change. This creates one of two problems when new information is added: either the readers will not become aware of the new information or the readers will be forced to waste time revisiting the page many times before the new information is available.

Watch It! sends at most one email notice a day that includes all the changes on all the watched pages during the last 24 hours. Users can watch anything. For example, one medical director of an insurance company watches a Medicare site and one aircraft broker watches a page that lists aircrafts for sale.

Watch It! also offers a free service for webmasters. By following simple instructions on Watch It's Webmaster page, webmasters can add the same easy-to-use change notification service to their own web pages.

President Roger Collins says its services is different from others in two ways. "First, we designed our service to be the easiest to use. There is not even a sign-up page! Second, our change detection process is designed to only detect relevant changes. Page counters, dates, and other irrelevant dynamic content can trigger change notices from other services, but not ours."

To address privacy concerns, Watch It posts its privacy policy prominently on the home page: "Watch It does not disclose your information to any other parties and we only use your email address to send the emails you request."
