Two Designers That Want You to Steal Their Ideas Designers, Ryan Nation and Persia Tatar, want people to steal their ideas; in fact they are taking it a step further by giving away their design kits for free. (PRWEB) April 5, 2006 -- The still5 design team makes fashion and art accessible with the release of a free design kit following their one night exhibit "The Modern Essential" on April 6th, 2006. still5 is not only opening the process by which they conceive and create their exhibits, but allowing the final designs to be downloaded, manipulated, and reproduced, ideas more closely associated with the open source software movement than either the fashion or design industries.
Each piece that is part of The Modern Essential will be available for download following the exhibit. All designs, graphics, and patterns will be able to be used without restriction enabling interested parties to interact with the project on an entirely new level. Users will have all of the basic information they need to create the same pieces seen in the show, as well as the ability to restyle each piece as they see fit.
The Modern Essential is the first collection created by still5 out of the desire to make art and fashion more accessible. The Modern Essential seeks to elevate plugs and sockets, which are often overlooked in everyday life, to art status. Modern art and minimalist fashion are tied together with performance art, where the models interact with the clothing, the paintings, and the observers. The show is supplemented with user guides that detail the history of plugs and the creative process for The Modern Essential.
still5 is a collaboration between artists, Ryan Nation and Persia Tatar. Both Ryan and Persia share the desire to create unique, accessible art and support the evolution of design through honest creations inspired by the observation of life. The design process is currently being documented on the still5 website blog.
The Modern Essential debuts April 6, 2006 at Atelier 34 Studio from 6-8pm.
