The Home Improvement Industry - A $300 Billion Giant

The home improvement industry is a key ingredient to stimulating the economy despite being overlooked by Congressional leaders, neglected by the financial press and remaining an enigma to economists.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 9, 2010

An industry developing revenues which equal almost 50% of the “Stimulus Package” is preparing for the Home Improvement Profit Summit (http://www.HIPSummit.com), to be held on May 5th and 6th at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, Illinois.

According to the joint center for studies at Harvard University, this giant industry has stimulated the market for home ownership, and created millions of jobs for manufacturers and those who install and service the products manufactured. This industry uses more building products than the new construction industry.

According to Dave Yoho (http://www.DaveYoho.com), President of the oldest and largest consulting firm representing the industry, “The US government and the mainline media have taken scant notice of the issues and concerns of this great industry and therefore its future has been left to the innovators and creative marketers who continue to introduce new products, many of which contribute to energy conservation and all of which contribute to the better living and well-being of US homeowners.”

D.S. Berenson, senior managing partner of Johanson Berenson (http://www.JohansonBerenson.com) will chair two panels introducing information regarding opportunities in the green market, forthcoming legislation on the control of independent contractor status, and opportunities in the “cash for caulkers" and weatherization programs.

A special panel will convene dedicated to understanding the complex regulations regarding the EPA's new standards for lead paint detection - - the mandates for enforcement of which take place on April 22nd, 2010.

Dave Yoho, who will act as host for the Summit stated, “The industry was and is hampered by the lack of retail financing. Despite government protests to the contrary, banks and other financial institutions really have their hands tied when it comes to providing this necessary service for homeowners. Despite the latter, progressive companies within the industry have had a banner year. Many indicate revenue growth of 10% or more.”

Several panels will convene during the Summit for discussion of how to hire and train more personnel for the many job opportunities this increase in business portends.
