Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 12, 2006 -- Bill Janes, a two tour combat veteran of the Vietnam War has begun a project to reach out to Veterans and their families. The SoldierWorks.com website is a place to contribute to an archive of memories of military service and sacrifice. Like many past and present U.S. soldiers, Bill has a story to tell, but wants to tell the story of every soldier that served America in all its conflicts.

In a recent interview, Janes was asked about the origins of the SoldierWorks website. As it turns out, SoldierWorks is actually the third site this veteran and webmaster has produced. First was the website www.191ahc.org for the 191st Assault Helicopter Company, the unit that he served with as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969. Feeling a debt to his fellow Vietnam brothers and sisters, he next started the website www.vietmemories.com for all that served in Vietnam. Then, his vision turned toward American veterans of all wars. The product of that effort is SoldierWorks.com.

Janes started SoldierWorks.com, where he could post his own war stories and poetry and allow other veterans to do the same. At interview he said “I like to write and I felt like there are a lot of war stories out there that need to be told.” SoldierWorks.com also acts as a marketing tool for veterans that have self published in order to get their works in the public eye. The website also offers video poems by Janes available for viewing or purchase on DVD in a collection titled "The Bitter, The Sweet."

“More than that,” he says, “rests the history of American conflict through the eyes of the ones who were there, our soldiers. The experience of it is quite different from what most of America sees on the night’s news. The experience of war resides entirely with millions of veterans, and their stories of battle seldom make the news.”

SoldierWorks offers the truth about war, and from a perspective not seen until now. It welcomes war stories from soldiers and their war poems as well.
