Philadelphia CCFA Hosts Crohn’s & Colitis Patient Education Seminar at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital

On Sunday, April 11, 2010, the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) will hold its annual Adult Education Day at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

On Sunday, April 11, 2010, the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) will hold its annual Adult Education Day at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

The free seminar, supported in part by an unrestricted educational grant from Salix Pharmaceuticals, Inc., provides a supportive environment for patients and their families to learn about Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Currently, Crohn’s and colitis affects an estimated 1.4 million Americans.

Physicians from the Philadelphia area will participate in a panel discussion and lecture on the following topics: Optimizing Therapies for IBD; Testing in Management of IBD; Health Maintenance Issues in IBD; IBD-Associated Musculoskeletal Problems; and Nutrition and IBD.

The program runs from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson’s Dorrance J. Hamilton Building, 1001 Locust Street.

Education Day seminars are free and open to the public, but space is limited. For reservation information, call the local CCFA office at (215) 396-9100. Free parking will also be provided at the Jefferson parking lot located at 10th and Chestnut Streets (entry on 10th St.).

CCFA, a voluntary, non-profit national organization, seeks to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
