Half of UK Adults Planning Trips Abroad in 2010

Post Office Travel Money advises that long-haul destinations could offer good value

London, UK (PRWeb UK) March 20, 2010

New research has revealed some positive signs for the travel industry as 58 per cent of UK adults reported they intend to take at least one overseas holiday this year .

With more than half of UK adults intending to spend some hard-earned travel money abroad in 2010, foreign currency exchange research from the Post Office has suggested that long-haul destinations are becoming particularly appealing for UK holidaymakers looking to stretch their travel money further

The Post Office Holiday Money report showed Jamaica, and Antigua top the list of long-haul destinations where UK holidaymakers may be able to make the most of their travel money. In January 2010, for example, UK tourists could receive more than 21 per cent more Jamaican dollars for their travel money and almost 12 per cent more AC dollars when they exchanged sterling for foreign currency compared to January 2009.

The Post Office Travel Money Holiday Costs Barometer report has also found that other long-haul destinations, such as Mexico, Mauritius and Barbados, were also shown to be top travel money destinations for 2010, due to significant decreases in tourist costs for frequently purchased holiday items.
