Given by the Publishers Marketing Association and named in honor of America’s most cherished publisher/printer, the Benjamin Franklin Award recognizes excellence in independent publishing. Grouped by genre, publications are judged on editorial and design merit by top practitioners in each field. The trophies are awarded to the best books in several categories. The Benjamin Franklin Awards are presented annually to books published during the previous year. The 2006 Benjamin Franklin Award winners will be chosen from one of the three finalists in each category and will receive the Benjamin Franklin Award during a ceremony on Wednesday evening, May 17, 2006 at the Washington, DC Convention Center. The trophies are awarded to the best books in several categories and are presented to the publishers during a gala awards ceremony on the last evening of the Publishing University (just before the opening of Book Expo America). Island Thyme, Tastes and Traditions of Bermuda celebrates the unique culinary traditions of Bermuda through elegant island recipes, mouthwatering photographs, cooking tips and information on local foods and flavours. This cookbook presents 256 pages with over 200 recipes and 150 colour photos of food and traditional Bermudian celebrations. Sales of the League’s cookbook will be used to aid current and new community service projects, annual financial donations to local organisations and individuals, and partial funds will be put aside to enable the future re-print of Island Thyme.
