SEG Announces Inaugural Global SEG Student Conference Students from around the world to attend Colorado conference. Denver, CO (PRWEB) April 27, 2006 -- The Society of Economic Geologists (SEG), an international organization comprised of industry, government and academic members, today announced the first international Conference of Student Chapters. This student conference will be held on May 12-13 in conjunction with SEG's conference "Wealth Creation in the Minerals Industry -- Integrating Science, Business and Education" to be held at the Keystone Resort, Colorado, May 14-16.
The student conference will begin with a reception on the Friday night, sponsored and hosted by Newmont Mining Corporation. On Saturday, events will include poster sessions showcasing graduate students' research projects from around the globe, a workshop discussion on issues and challenges facing both students and the minerals exploration industry, and a student-industry mentoring dinner.
The conference will be attended by more than 100 graduate and senior undergraduate students from 26 countries and all continents and will be hosted by the SEG Student Chapter at the Colorado School of Mines. Students will have first-hand opportunities to meet with minerals exploration industry executives and academic researchers to learn more about their career opportunities in a dynamic marketplace.
The development of the international student conference coincides with an unprecedented demand for graduate geoscientists. The demand has been created by a strong upswing in minerals markets and a corresponding surge in global mineral exploration activity. The SEG Student Chapter Conference is being supported by many of the world's largest minerals exploration companies.
