Could Rachel Weisz Portray Libbie Custer In A Story About General George Armstrong Custer?

When a writer takes on a story of epic proportions only the best can fill the key acting roles. Screenwriter Adam Pletcher has thrown down the gauntlet and invited the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Nicolas Cage, Val Kilmer, Rachel Weisz & Peter Facinelli to breathe life into the dramatic story of the Battle of Little Bighorn.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 28, 2006 -- There was a battle that has had more books written about it than any other. How many? Amazon.com cites nearly 4,500 books referencing it. Over fifty movies tell the tale and yet the last time it hit the silver screen was in "They Died With Their Boots On" in 1942, starring Errol Flynn.

Tyro screenwriter, Adam Pletcher, has crafted a masterpiece in his script, "Honor & Infamy." It brings forth the story of General George Armstrong Custer and the Seventh Cavalry. Centuries of conflict between the white and red man struck its crescendo upon the banks of the Little Bighorn. The overwhelming defeat of the Seventh Cavalry and the famous "Boy General" by Lakota and Cheyenne warriors rose above history, beyond legend and into mythical proportions.

"Anyone that has visited the battlefield can't help but to be moved by the power of what occured there." says Pletcher. Apparently he isn't alone in his interest. Nearly half a million people visit the battlefield every year.

"It is a story that needs to be shared." say Pletcher. To accomplish this Pletcher is reaching out to the elite in Hollywood. A visit to his website (http://www.neotekhomes.com/adam) shows an open call to the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Nicolas Cage, Val Kilmer, Rachel Weisz & Peter Facinelli. "There are certain actors who have that special look and acting style that I feel do the central characters justice. I want this film to be as accurate as possible." says Pletcher. To that end Pletcher claims that his script is no less than 90% true to historical records.

What roles does Pletcher want these actors to portray. It is a battle for the lead role of General Custer between Matthew McConaughey & Nicolas Cage. "Both have the look and greatness to pull it off" offers Pletcher. The other actors sought would cover some of the primary supporting roles such as Custer's wife Libbie (Rachel Weisz), Custer's brother Tom (Peter Facinelli), and the boisterous Irishman Captain Myles Keogh (Val Kilmer). Pletcher has prepared an impressive letter for each which can also be seen on his site.

Pletcher finished by adding that "having spent over seven years researching, preparing and polishing 'Honor & Infamy,' I now offer the ultimate eipc of bravery, love, betrayal and cowardice. It truly is a rate tale where fact amazes and entertains more than fiction ever could."

Now all that remains to be seen is if Hollywood's A-List will share Pletcher's enthusiasm for this unshared masterpiece. Let us hope that Pletcher's newcomer status doesn't dissuade them before they take a serious look at the story and what it tells. It would be a refreshing thing to see this portrayed on the big screen again after a half-century hiatus.

“I’m looking for someone to give me the opportunity to prove my worth as a writer,” says Pletcher. As of the publishing of this article he is unrepresented and would welcome the right agent to partner with. He has a website where people can see his arsenal of scripts as well as those he is currently working on at http://www.neotekhomes.com/adam
