WASHINGTON, DC - James L. Coffin, a respected sports contract and real estate attorney, has been selected to fill the newly established position of Vice President for Land Preservation and General Counsel at the National Park Trust (NPT). Coffin, who has negotiated sports and racing contracts, says of his new role, "I owe it to my children to protect their heritage. That's what America's national parklands are to my family."

"We are very pleased that Jim is joining us to help us realize the dream of our national parklands," says Paul Pritchard, president and founder of the NPT. "Jim has incredible skills. He has excellent education and experience. And most importantly, he has the strong commitment needed to increase our success in preserving the private lands located within national parks, refuges and state parks."

Coffin was most recently the General Counsel for Negotiations Plus Sports Management, Ltd., where he was responsible for contracting and licensing, and he served as an agent for NFL and NASCAR programs. Prior to this, he was a member of several Washington, D.C., and New York law firms specializing in real estate financing and development.

Coffin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Master of Science in Nutrition and Biochemistry from Cornell University, a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Syracuse University, and a Juris Doctor from Catholic University.

The National Park Trust is the only private land conservancy authorized by the U.S. Congress to own a unit of the National Park System. NPT is dedicated exclusively to America's parklands, saving nationally significant wildlife, scenic wonders, and historic monuments. Its headquarters is in Washington, DC.
