South San Antonio Students Thank Rey Feo LXII, NRP Group & LULAC For $42,400 in Scholarship Funds

South San Antonio Independent School District (SSAISD), hosted The NRP Group, Rey Feo LXII Baltazar “Walter” Serna and LULAC.

South San Antonio Independent School District (SSAISD), hosted The NRP Group, Rey Feo LXII Baltazar “Walter” Serna and LULAC.

A student rally was held on Friday, March 29, 2010 at South San Antonio High School which included South San Antonio ISD’s administration, faculty, staff and students to learn about Rey Feo’s Mission and accept $42,400 in funds to provide 2010 - 2011 scholarships to students who apply through LULAC.

Superintendent Ron Durbon and Associate Superintendent Robert C. Zamora accepted the funds on behalf of SSAISD and committed to assisting students in the application process through LULAC. "On behalf of South San Antonio School District and our students, I want to thank Rey Feo, the NRP group and LULAC for their outstanding support of SSAISD. Through LULAC, our students received 56 scholarships last year, and those who have received these scholarships in past years have become outstanding citizens in the San Antonio area and other areas throughout the state. Again, I thank the NRP Group, Rey Feo LXII and LULAC for the $42,400 specifically to South San Antonio School District in the form of 2010 – 2011 LULAC scholarships." El Rey Feo’s principal function is to raise scholarship funds for deserving San Antonio area high school seniors and this year, Rey Feo LXII has raised over $200,000. Since 1947, over $3 million has been raised and funding provided to over 3,000 students with over 100 students currently receiving $1,500 each for books and tuition. This contribution was made to Rey Feo Scholarship Inc. and LULAC by the NRP Group and is specifically for the students of SSAISD.
