SunSavvy® products are specially engineered in Australia and in the U.S. by respected leaders in the industry Provo, Utah (PRWEB) May 7, 2006 -- This year making a fashion statement will come from more than the way clothes look. True fashion statements will be made by what clothing can do.
The Cancer Crusaders Organization is proud to present SunSavvy.net, a one-stop resource for sun protective clothing. SunSavvy® products are specially engineered in Australia and in the U.S. by respected leaders in the industry.
The average white T-shirt blocks just 14 percent of ultraviolet radiation, or the equivalent of an SPF 6 sunscreen. The clothing offered by SunSavvy® is specially woven to block >97.5 percent of ultraviolet radiation, or the equivalent of an SPF 30 sunscreen.
By bringing sun protective clothing via SunSavvy.net, The Cancer Crusaders Organization hopes to provide dermatologists and their patients with increased accessibility and affordability the most effective sun safety products. The SunSavvy® line will provide a reassurance for those who are at a high risk for skin cancer or those who are battling the disease. The line will also pave the way for a greater awareness of the importance of sun protection.
“After spending the last several years working closely with dermatologists, patients, and educators in the skin cancer community, we now recognize the pertinent and pressing need for a common sense method of making the quality sun protective clothing and sun safety products better accessible and affordable to dermatologists and their patients,” says Danielle White, founder and CEO of SunSavvy, LLC. (a.k.a. SunSavvy.net) especially since skin cancer is a very preventable cancer. Though, the fastest growing cancer in America, skin cancer is 90-95 percent preventable, if we are proactive about properly protecting ourselves [from over-exposure to ultraviolet radiation.” White also serves as co-founder and president of The Cancer Crusaders Organization, an award-winning not-for-profit education facility that serves as the proud home of the National Skin Cancer Awareness Symbol©.
Proceeds from the sale of SunSavvy® products go toward a new grant program established by The Cancer Crusaders Organization, the 2005 Gold Triangle Award winner for dermatology education excellence, which provides sun protective clothing to high-risk melanoma patients from lower-income households. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer. More than 7,700 Americans suffer melanoma each year, which is equivalent to one death per hour from melanoma, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Inspired by White’s best friend (who is featured in the May 2006 edition of SHAPE Magazine), SunSavvy, LLC, went public in January 2006. SunSavvy.net will go live on May 8, 2006 to commemorate national Skin Cancer Awareness month. For more information, check out the SunSavvy® media kit available on www.sunsavvy.net
