Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) May 9, 2006

KnowmTech, LLC (“KnowmTech”) announces the issuance of two new patents, U.S. Patent No. 7,028,017 and U.S. Patent No. 7,039,619. KnowmTech is building a broad IP portfolio around the use of nanoparticles in liquid media for distributed and adaptive applications such as fine-grained reconfigurable logic and adaptive content addressable memories.

KnowmTech is applying the neurobiological principle of synaptic plasticity to artificial synapses formed from nanoparticles suspended in a liquid layer above traditional CMOS microelectronics. Synaptic plasticity governs the continual changes in synaptic strength between interconnected neurons and is responsible for attributes such as learning and adaptive fault recovery.

Diverging from the “smaller and faster transistor” mantra common to the microelectronic and emerging nanoelectronic fields, KnowmTech is focused on a distributed systems-based approach that meshes micro and nano-electronics. Its goal is a new type of external memory chip intended for the extremely computationally intensive task of real-world pattern recognition.

KnowmTech LLC was formed in 2002 for the purpose of patenting and licensing Knowm™ technology. In February 2006, Knowm IT Inc. was formed to develop the Knowm™ Chip.
