Castfire Manages Podcast for Killington Ski Resort

The Castfire mediacasting platform and syndication tools ensure that the Killington Ski Resort podcasts are delivered to thousands of listeners.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 15, 2006 –- Castfire and Killington Ski resort have teamed up to create technology solution for a campaign designed to keep Killington Ski Resort on the minds and in the ears of skiers and boarders during the 2005 – 2006 winter season through widely-distributed podcasts. Castfire was hired to ensure that the content and messages would reach the intended audience once the campaign and podcasts were created. Castfire’s technology and program execution has made Killington’s new program a great success.

“Castfire exceeded the expectations of Fulgent Media and Killington with its creative approach and technical know-how throughout the campaign,” said Kristin Mollerus of Fulgent Media in Boston. “Castfire’s expertise allows us to successfully implement an innovative podcasting campaign designed to keep skiers and snowboarders in the New York, Boston and Hartford Metropolitan areas informed and entertained.”

Castfire created a campaign of three separate podcast series that targeted at the audience of Killington. Each was designed to connect with, inform and remind users of the Killington experience. The first, SnowCast, featured daily episodes consisting of the weather, as well as trail and lift reports for the coming day at Killington. The second, DriftCast, was a 10-15 minute weekly feature produced by Killington featuring interviews with notable personalities such as Matt Lauer and Olympic hopefuls; schedules of bands playing around the resort that week; a segment from Anna on the Mountain; and highlights of activities for the coming week. The final, SoundRide, was a 2-3 hour soundtrack featuring some of the hottest new indie music licensed by Castfire for playback through podcasting.

“The Castfire system was simple for my staff to use throughout the season,” said Tom Horrocks of Killington Ski Resorts. “It allowed us to spend our time focusing on the mountain and content production, while the Castfire system handled all of the technology to publish and syndicate the content. Using it was a no brainer.”

In addition to availability through the killington.com Web site and iTunes, the Killington content has been repurposed for advertising campaigns throughout the season. The Castfire system makes it extremely easy for other partners to use the podcasts without developing costly integrations. Due to the effective method of synchronization syndication of this content, thousands of additional impressions were realized without any additional effort by the content production team.
