Bahamas Real Estate: An Investment in Paradise

A discussion with Bahamas Real Estate Expert George Damianos about investing the the islands.

(PRWEB) May 13, 2006 -- If you’ve been thinking of investing in Real Estate in the Caribbean, namely the Bahamas, it is wise to do your homework. Before embarking on the journey alone, it is wise, as with any investment or major transaction to enlist the services of a specialist in that area.

Whether you think you know the islands or not the same rules apply in the Bahamas as do in the U.S.

George Damianos was just a young boy when he began “hanging around” his father’s business and quickly learned about the Bahamas and the “paradise“ it provided for so many people from around the world.

Damianos and others throughout the Caribbean all echo the same thing that the Bahamas is quickly becoming one of the most soft after destinations for ex-patriots as well as those who just want a slice of “heaven on earth”. Although, island living isn’t for everyone and there are many things to consider before making the decision you should first speak with professionals who are already there and make the Bahamas their home and let them guide you into making the right decision. When questioned about the Real Estate climate in the Bahamas today Damianos believes the key to success for any realtor is to “partner” with your clients, he believes that companies who adopt this philosophy, not just in Real Estate, will have a much stronger relationship with those clients.

Damianos says “the Bahamas is still one of the best Real Estate investments in the world.”

In a recent interview with Jay Michaels, on the Bahamas Information Network, George Damianos said that the Government of the Bahamas makes it much easier and encourages investment in their Country. While others may have experienced “horror stories” in offshore investing the Bahamas offers a stable Government and offers easy access to the U.S. as well.

One thing you will find in the Bahamas is that, while many properties have been priced far above the market in places like Florida or California, there are still some very good deals to be had within the archipelago of the Bahamas. An investor to the Bahamas will still find vacant land to fit a variety of budgets also construction of housing in the Bahamas has become much more sophisticated. Again, the Government of the Bahamas offers resident status to those purchasing there and a realtor registered with the Bahamas Real Estate Association can walk their buyers through the process. Damianos says buying a piece of paradise is not much different than buying in the U.S., the same rules apply. In other words he says, “ask questions”, be sure that you have done your homework first! All too often people have found that their “dream home” can become a “nightmare” because of individuals who did not understand or disclose everything. Put the same due diligence into looking into the “land in the sand” as you would to any property in the U. S. or anywhere for that matter.

George Damianos, President of Damianos Sotheby’s International Realty does stress the importance, again, of dealing with someone who has knowledge of the marketplace. While that is true in any Real Estate transaction it is even more imperative in dealing in the Bahamas.

If you have never experienced the Bahamas, and want to know more the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism can provide you with valuable information on the islands. It’s always best in considering an island home, as a second residence or for retirement to spend some time there. Take some time to get to know this wonderful land and its people. Again, island living is not for everyone, but for those who are there, they say there is no place like this on earth!

Take a close look at what the Bahamas has to offer from a piece of open land on Exuma to a palace in Lyford Cay you too will find out why for so many years people from all over the world have said, “It’s Better in the Bahamas!”
