Le Grand Cirque Headlines Memorial Day Weekend on Emerald Coast

Beginning May 25, 2010 Le Grande Cirque will perform under a big-top tent at Grand Boulevard, providing an exciting new venue for Destin vacationers.

Destin, FL (PRWEB) April 12, 2010

The world-renowned acrobatics and white-knuckle stunts of Le Grand Cirque top the calendar of Memorial Day weekend events along the sugary white sands of Destin, in the heart of Northwest Florida’s Emerald Coast.

Beginning May 25 and throughout the Summer, Le Grand Cirque’s 40-member international troupe of contortionists, tumblers and aerialists will perform under an 1,100-seat air-conditioned big top tent on the grounds of Grand Boulevard, located eight miles east of Destin.

The two-hour extravaganza, hailed as the “Next generation of Cirque du Soleil,” features the breathtaking “Wheel of Death,” one of the most dangerous circus tricks ever attempted. Le Grand Cirque has set box-office records worldwide and it ranks as the best-selling production in the history of the acclaimed Sydney Opera House.

Destin vacations are always packed with family fun, from vacation resort and condo activities to unique festivals, and 2010 is no exception. Other popular Memorial Day weekend and Summer kickoff events include:

Memorial Day Concert Celebration, May 29-31. The free celebration on the beautiful Destin Harbor will feature live music, fireworks, children's activities, shopping, dining and the start of the "Summer Rock the Dock” music series.

55th Annual Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival, June 3-7. Neighboring Fort Walton Beach hosts this annual celebration of its conquest of the notorious pirate. The event’s many activities include a thrilling “skirmish” between Captain Billy and the city’s mayor, a parade, live entertainment, arts & crafts, and fireworks over Santa Rosa Sound.
