Shauniece Steward has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Coppin State College next fall. Steward, who was recruited by more than 30 NCAA Division I volleyball programs, attends John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring, Maryland but did not play high school volleyball at Kennedy. Originally from California, Steward played for Vista High School in Vista, California and for club Strictly Volleyball in San Diego.

Shauniece worked very hard this year and led our 18-Elite team to an outstanding season," stated Washington Diplomats director Tom Herod. This is our inaugural season as a Junior Olympic Volleyball club and it is thrilling to have our first graduating student-athlete sign with an NCAA Division I program. Shaunieces work ethic and floor leadership will make her an outstanding collegiate player for Coppin State."

Steward plans to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy at Coppin State.

The Washington Diplomats Volleyball Club is a select Junior Olympic program that develops junior-level players (girls 10-18) who wish to pursue volleyball excellence and play at the highest competitive levels. The club, a member organization of USAVolleyball, is located in Gaithersburg, Maryland and serves student-athletes from all over the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
