Jeff Cook of the Super Group Alabama to Aid with Vietnam Veteran's Telethon

Vietnam Veterans Helping Wounded Wounded Warriors Fight Back Through Rehabilitation

(PRWEB) May 19, 2006 -- Heartland film company, Ozarkia Production to film Welcome Home 2006,” said Executive Producer, Shirleen Sando. “Our production crew is covering this powerful event, including a trip to the Wounded Warrior’s Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, to interview Wounded Warriors,” Sando said. Joe Wider and Rob Franks have plans to visit the hospital and conduct interviews before the upcoming Operation Homecoming event, June 11 -18.

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) assists the men and women of the United States armed forces who have been severely injured during the ongoing Global War on Terror. In assisting these wounded warriors as they reintegrate back to civilian life we have the opportunity to observe various systems in place and to identify where these systems may need improvement to meet the growing patient needs.

“The film production is just one way we can assist in helping those who served not only in Vietnam but those who are serving in Iraq,” Sando said. “We hope you can join us in Branson to give the Veterans the welcome home they deserve and to support our service men and women who served in Iraq and are coming home wounded.” “Last year we produced a Homecoming documentary for the History Channel, which will be a 1 ½ hour special. The focus is on the first Homecoming for Vietnam Veterans held in 2005.

This year’s event is to welcome home those veterans who could not make it to the event occurring last year. The airing of the History Channel documentary will be this June at Mansion America Theater in Branson, Missouri,” Sando said.

“With Operation Homecoming Branson upcoming event in June, “We hope to create an atmosphere where everyone can take part in the celebration,” says spokesman Rob Frank, and “Jeff Cook of the Super Group Alabama is to Perform at the Heartland Benefit Concert June 18, 2006. Concert goers and loyal fans can expect to see a little bit of Alabama with Jeff Cook and newcomer Mitch Glenn.”

Joining fellow artists Mickey Gilley, Moe Bandy, the Bellamy Brothers, Chely Wright, John Conlee, Collin Raye, Johnny Lee, Paulette Carlson former lead singer with Highway 101, Liverpool Legends, Rex Smith, Chris Noel, and a host of Branson’s finest entertainers, Jeff Cook of the Super Group Alabama is looking forward to insuring that the Heartland Benefit concert is a major success in 2006. The special weekend concert comes at the end of Welcome Home 2006, Branson’s eight day tribute to Vietnam veterans.

Kicking off the week will be a Vietnam Memorial Wall dedication ceremony at Mansion America Theater on Sunday, June 11th with festivities continuing throughout the week. “The Wall That Heals; large numbers of Hueys, LOHs, and Cobras circling overhead; thousands of strangers thanking us for our service and welcoming us home; a moving parade down the heart of Branson just for us; and a gigantic weekend concert especially for the VN veteran will make this experience an event to remember,” says Operation Homecoming Branson President Gary Linderer.

Vietnam Veteran and CEO Gary Linderer said that “Operation Homecoming is raising money to support Wounded Warriors and Operation Iraq Aid because we feel as Vietnam Veterans we cannot let what happened to us when we returned happen to those now serving. We want to pay tribute to those Vietnam Veterans who never received the welcome home they deserved, so we are doing it now, but with our telethon, we provide aid to those wounded coming home from Iraq,” Linderer said. “This is a powerful event with a heartfelt message. Show your support by joining us in Branson for this event,” Linderer said, “and welcome home.”
